Paul McGann again. I needed some more digital practice.

Simple portrait, nothing fancy. This is colored entirely digitally, bounced back between Painter and Photoshop. People seem to like some of the digital experimentation that I do, and curious about how I get all the different textures.

It's almost entirely just various watercolor effects sandwiched between layers of charcoal for highlights. I bounced this one into Photoshop to add a translucent cut-out filter overtop... I'm stil experimenting with that, I do like the look of it.



The drawing is another matter, and took almost as long as the painting. I tried hard to draw a likeness this time instead of distorting as I saw fit; some of the proportions are still a bit skewed. Is it a good likeness at least?


I don't know. I'd like to say more but essentially this is still just a doodle. Maybe one of these days I'll put together a proper big finished piece.
