[link]Coffee. I adore coffee. The caffeine is a nice pick-me-up, but it's more than that... there's something comforting and sophisticated in a good cup of coffee, and MAKING a good cup of coffee is a skill all of its own. Even if had some other thing to give me a bit of pep in the morning, I would still miss my morning cup of coffee.
The best part of this project was doing the research into all the different kinds. It was also a bit confusing... things like the latte and macchiato are made and served differently from place to place, do I did the best I could to represent a recognizable version. Some of the cups have little snacks to go with.. the vietnamese has a striped sweet called banh da lon, and the turkish coffee has baklava.
Vector pictures always look so simple in the end, but they end up taking a surprising amount of time. Well at least it takes ME a surprising amount of time. The vector work that I do is so different from the hand-drawn stuff. I know they always say that for an illustrator, it's important to have a distinctive style... maybe it's alright to have two distinctive styles? I enjoy doing the messy scratchy paint stuff and the clean geometric vector stuff both so much.
