Traditionally mermaids are seen as dangerous creatures: they are said to lure sailors from their boats so that they can drown them. But what would a mermaid want with a dead sailor? Imagine living at the bottom of the sea - how quiet and dark it would be. So the mermaid gets lonely and decides to swim up to the surface. She sees a beautiful sailor aboard his ship, wants him for her lover, and with her charm convinces him to jump into the water. But in her desperation and denial she doesn't fully understand that he can't live with her, and he quickly drowns, and she's left with a dead body to cuddle, which might be alright for the moment, but once she goes back home she'll be lonely again...
Anyways. Those are my thoughts. I appologize for the poor scan quality: this wouldn't fit on my scanner and I had to put it together in four pieces. Rotating = smudgy pic. Sorry. So, you'd better appreciate it! ^__^ Done with technical pen.... I'm considering coloring it, but I kind of like it with just the lines.....
