Peter Smith-Kingsley by littlecrow Peter Smith-Kingsley by littlecrow
*shrugs* at the ridiculous DA category system.

So look what I have here! Have I done a big refined finished piece, telling a wonderful narrative and rendered in a unique style, practicing my color theory, and challenging myself by including architecture, plant life, and other things that I am not as good at drawing?

No!

I have done another portrait doodle. Hooray for me!

I watched The Talented Mr. Ripley last night, which has the honor of being possibly the only movie I've ever seen that I like better than the book it was based on. To commemorate, here is a doodle of Jack Davenport as Peter Smith-Kingsley, done in splattery acrylic ink.

The only caricatures and portraits I seem to be doing lately are all of men. I ought to watch something with some good actresses in it....

... or better yet, stop doing all these doodles and get a REAL piece done.

Alright. I promise the next thing I upload here will not be a portrait.

This is so awesome, seriously. :+favlove: Love him, so naturally I was disgruntled with the end of TTMR!

Heh!

Well better than the book, anyways. Peter Smith-Kingsley was a very minor character with barely a full page to him!

Really?! Well I'm glad he had a bigger part in the movie, if you ask me he was pivotal to tapping into Tom's character.

Well, I am guilty of doing fanart doodles of atractive men instead of finished pieces, so I understand XD All the same, this is really well done - it's very... stylish, I don't know. The inking's bold, the colouring's interesting and it looks like the person you are trying to portray (definitively in agreement with you about Ripley, by the way) but it's not a boring photographic copy so don't feel bad about these. It's fun to draw for yourself just for the fun of it, and if the end result is so cool no one's complaining!

Heh, thank you so much.

I just feel lazy that this summer I haven't been pushing myself to do the things I'm not quite so good at, and instead have just been doodling little portraits. But oh well! I'm still doing SOMETHING I suppose, right? ^_^

i like how much red you use in your drawings in skin tones.
it always looks so great and off-beat~
i don't mind the portrait doodles, since they're all this cool.

(sorry if this doubleposts?)
