Very first daily deviation, wow! Would have been even nicer if the links at the bottom were working correctly! *^_^* Everything is fixed now. Thanks for all the comments guys!

comic book project: 3-5 page sequential art narrative, using no dialogue, based on a character we had created in a project a week earlier. My character was a brave little traveller on a long trek just for a simple thing.

I liked my character: quiet, worn, weary, but no matter what, he still keeps going. I liked my story: a self-contained little slice of life, showing how hard he will try and how far he will go, try to establish some character development.... but, like with all school projects, I always feel rushed and inevitably I am always dissapointed with the final result. In order to fit the story into the five page maximum, I was forced to compress the images and I wasn't able to pace it as I would have liked to. The final painting was not as well-planned as it should have been.

But, such is life.

This page:
Finally my traveller has returned home, and we finally see what the heck was in his pack that was so important: nothing but a simple load of groceries, brought home to his wife and child.

We've been having a lot of financial problems this year; that definately added an extra layer of meaning to this project for me. Sometimes simply providing the basics for your family can feel like just such a monumental trek.

Daily Deviation, 2006-12-18

Daily DeviationI stumbled across ~littlecrow's page and this delightful series while I was working. Very much in need of a smile, this wonderful story came just in the nick of time. Comic page five is the end of a long and perilous journey for the brave little traveler. No treasure the world has to offer could compare to that he has waiting for him at home; a warm meal and the tender embrace of his family. Be sure to check out the rest of the pages in this series, take in all the little details and truly enjoy the story that words would've done no justice. (Featured by $y2jenn)

This was just wonderful. I loved every step, every moment. The ending is absolutely perfect.

That said, I completely understand what you're going through with this. Having been there myself many times with a number of animation projects. School doesn't really allow one the kind of time or peace of mind it takes to really get exactly what your brain wants on paper. Regardless, please know that despite the sacrifices you had to make this is still a beautifully told story. It's very sweet and very heartfelt and it completely made my night.

I've just read all 5, I loved them, a simple style which combines perfectly with the story, and the whole concept is very nice. Great work you did. A :+fav: for all 5 pages!

Awesome. This piece conveys the emotions so well. Silent happiness to be back home. Huge joy to welcome a loved one back.

Most importantly, I am free in every way that you are not.
